10 killed in Karachi train crash

3 Nov, 11:32 PM

At least 10 people were killed in Pakistan when a passenger train rammed into a cargo train outside Karachi after the driver apparently missed a signal to stop.

More than 30 people were injured, said police officer Muzaffar Shaikh.

Aftab Memon, a senior railway official, said the cargo train was parked in a station on the outskirts of Karachi when it was rammed by the passenger train.

The first two carriages of the passenger train were badly damaged and two bodies remained trapped inside, officials said.

Pakistan has an antiquated train network and accidents are common.
