Mighty favour from the Boosh boys

The Mighty Boosh make cameo appearances in Bunny And The Bull

Mighty Boosh director Paul King said he called in a "favour" from Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt for his first film Bunny And The Bull.

King's directorial debut is a surreal, road-trip comedy and he called in the Boosh boys for a pair of wacky cameo appearances.

He said: "I just said 'listen, I'd really like you to do this', because it's something a bit different from what they usually do, their characters are different to their ones in the show; Julian plays a dog-loving tramp and Noel's a dipsomaniac ex-matador."

He added: "They're such good character actors as well and they don't get as much chance to do that as they would like so they both kind of did me a favour."

In one scene Julian's character has to suckle milk from a dachshund hound, to which he quipped: "It's quite a favour you've asked me."

The film's star Edward Hogg plays Stephen, a neurotic, love-sick, agoraphobic, but he reckons starring alongside Noel was the most daunting part of the project.

He said: "A bit intimidating for me... I think Noel's probably the most famous person I've ever stood next to... and I used to spend long sessions just staring at him. But it was brilliant and they're both amazing in the film."

Co-star Simon Farnaby, who plays alcoholic hedonist Bunny, has worked with King before with The Mighty Boosh so knew what to expect when he signed up for the role.

He said: "We both have similar tastes in slightly odd things so I got his vision pretty much straight away."

:: Bunny And The Bull is released in cinemas on November 27.
