Nicholas Hoult has spoken out about his role in Clash Of The Titans, revealing he played it with sexual undertones.

The Orange Bafta Rising Star nominee plays a young Greek warrior in Louis Leterrier's remake of the 1981 fantasy flick, and claimed his portrayal of sexually-ambiguous Kenny in A Single Man may have had some influence on his acting.

"I was the youngest of the Greek soldiers in the actual times who would have been the b***h, so it's maybe not that big a jump for me [from A Single Man] - I definitely played it like that, so you'll probably catch a few moments if you're watching closely," he said.

The 20-year-old added: "At the same time, in a family film, there's none of that in there - it's all subtext. It's very much fun."

Nicholas - who stars in A Single Man with Colin Firth - appears in Clash Of The Titans alongside Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. It will be released on April 2.

:: A Single Man is released on February 12.
